BIOCHAR
About Biochar
Biochar is one of the most promising climate solutions of our time- a clean, carbon-rich material made by heating organic residues such as coconut shells, cocoa husks, sawdust, and rice husks in a low-oxygen environment. This process, known as pyrolysis, prevents carbon from escaping into the atmosphere and transforms waste into a valuable resource for the soil.
Instead of being burned or left to rot, agricultural and forestry waste becomes biochar-stable carbon that can remain in the soil for hundreds or even thousands of years.
Why Biochar Matters
Every handful of biochar represents carbon removed from the atmosphere and stored safely in the ground. But its value goes beyond climate action. Biochar brings new life to degraded soils and supports sustainable food production.

Key Benefits
Carbon Removal: Each ton of biochar locks away several tons of CO₂ equivalent.
Soil Health: Improves soil structure, retains nutrients, boosts microbial life, and enhances plant growth.
Water Retention: Acts like a sponge, helping soil hold moisture longer-vital in drought-prone regions.
Land Restoration: Revitalizes depleted or mined lands, turning barren ground back into fertile farmland.
Waste-to-Value: Converts organic residues into useful products, reducing pollution and open burning.
How Biochar Is Made
Feedstock Collection
Agricultural and forestry by-products are collected locally-no need to cut down trees.
Pyrolysis Process
The biomass is heated in a special chamber with limited oxygen. Carbon stays in solid form, while clean gases can be reused for drying or heating.
Cooling & Application
The finished biochar is cooled, screened, and ready for use in soil, compost, animal bedding, or even green construction materials.
Process
This clean, circular process supports both energy recovery and long-term carbon storage, creating value for farmers, industries, and communities.
Biochar in Action
For Farmers:
Healthier soils, reduced fertilizer costs and improved yields.
For Industry:
Sustainable waste management and carbon credits.
For communities:
Green jobs, local innovation and restored ecosystems.
